Deep ruby-purple center with violet and pink tones at the rim. The nose starts off with fresh, vibrant bramble berries such as blackberry, raspberry, and loganberry. Highly detailed aromas of violets crushed with black peppercorns and cinnamon follow. The wine has substance and power, but it's more about the fresh, lifted details than it is about concentration. But there is no lack of stuffing in this wine. Highly composed and clean from start to finish, the lift to the fruit comes from the well-timed seven-month stint the Syrah does in large, neutral, 100-year old foudres.
