Ponzi’s stunning Pinot Gris, grown on low-yielding old vines that produce extremely concentrated, intensely flavored berries, earned a staggering 96 points. That’s a near-miracle, considering the price.
Pale brassy-straw color. Gorgeously ripe pears, creamy almond butter, clove, and vanilla billow from the glass. A delicate mix of bruised apple, roasted peach, and lemon peel moves on the palate, with accents of citrus blossom, hard spices, vanilla custard, and fennel. The body is medium, with a weighty midpalate and a zippy lemon-zest finish. Drink now–2026.
