Deep-ruby color with youthful hints of purple. There is an attractive combination of wild plum, currant, and violet on the nose, supported by notions of tobacco, graphite, and a hint of toast. Blackberry and black cherry take over on the palate, met in equal measure by savory cedar, tobacco, and olive tapenade notes. Medium-full bodied, the tannins are satisfyingly grippy and granular, holding firm through the dry, spicy finish.
